Bohemian Roots is a line of hand-made jewelry created by Lauren Racusin. Through both Lauren’s global travel and time spend in urban and rural America, Lauren has gained knowledge and taste for diverse aesthetics and lifestyles. But it’s in 2004, as she settled onto a farm in Sonoma County, Northern California, that Lauren first found the inspiration for Bohemian Roots. “Being in nature, I feel a connection to my creativity. Nature is an incredible source of inspiration for a jewelry designer. Everywhere I see shapes, textures and symmetries that inspire me for my designs”, says the 35-years old designer, who began creating jewelry over 20 years ago.
But even though nature is at the source of the designs, when looking at the line of earrings, bracelets, rings and necklaces of Bohemian Roots, its wide appeal for the contemporary, eco-conscious modern woman, either in country or urban setting, is apparent. Lauren believes she shares a common sense of style with such iconic designers as David Yurmam, Todd Reed and Jennifer Dawes and in as much, Bohemian Roots blends simplicity of shapes, with sophisticated and unique materials and designs.
Each handmade one of kind piece of Bohemian Roots is the result of a creative process of discovery. Lauren’s creations all start with finding a recyclable, eco-friendly material. While scouting for the materials, Lauren keeps an open mind: “I am open to using all kinds of metals and even wood. I work with brass, enamel, but also silver and gold. Everything can be reused if it fits an aesthetic purpose.” Back in her workshop, Lauren creates the jewelry through a long, creative process using precious metal clays.
Bohemian Roots belongs to the fast-moving, ever-deepening San Francisco Bay Area creative scene. It’s highly versatile and wearable – with a evening dress or simply with casual jeans and tee-shirt – and reflects Lauren’s unique and multifaceted personality.
